I can recall my first memories of being introduced to books. I was four or five years old, curled up in my mother's bed as she read me several stories before bed. My bookcase was stacked with books.
Dr. Seuss
Berenstein Bears
Little Golden Books
Mr. Men and Little Miss series
These books were my favourites, and often on repeat. I remember I had the story memorized, often finishing the pages before my mom. These moments were special, not only did they create sacred memories, they introduced me to a world outside of my own. A world filled with curiosity, wonder, adventure, and endless possibilities. I started writing in 2012, mainly poetry and short stories. My introduction to children's book writing began with the publication of my first picture book, Timeless Love, published in 2019.
When writing, my goal is to create stories that uplift diverse voices. Stories of laughter, joy, and inspiration. Stories that enrich the diverse tapestry of our world, in which all are seen.
Alijah and his mother do everything together. They go to the park, ride their bikes, practise yoga and Alijah's favourite: share popcorn during movie night.
Alijah loves being with his mom and he knows his mom loves being with him. So when Mom introduces him to her new friend Jason, Alijah is excited.
That is, until Jason starts to pop up too often.
Alijah thinks two is a better number than three and he feels the rumble of anger start to grow in his tummy.
I'm very excited to share that When Isaac Hears The Rain has won the Charlotte Huck Recommended Book Award for 2025!
The NCTE Charlotte Huck Award® for Outstanding Fiction for Children was established in 2014 to promote and recognize excellence in the writing of fiction for children. This award recognizes fiction that has the potential to transform children’s lives by inviting compassion, imagination, and wonder.
Celebrate the unexpected joy of a rainy day with this quietly exuberant book about a young boy who delights in the rejuvenating power of rain.
When the rain starts to fall, others may dash, yelp, and dodge, as their smiles turn into frowns. But not Isaac. Isaac embraces the rain with curiosity and wonder, grateful for its renewing power and grounded in the world around him.
Written with equal parts heart and whimsy, and with a nod to Ezra Jack Keats' The Snowy Day, this environmentally conscious narrative makes a fantastic read-aloud for readers, young and old.

I’ve realized I have found it challenging to be still and prefer the business that life often brings. I do know this can be somewhat problematic, I’m working on it.
When keeping busy, I enjoy the outdoors, running, reading, baking, listening to podcasts, and of course writing. I'm an avid yogi, and dream of opening a yoga studio once I retire.
I told you I was working on it.
